Sulforhodamine 101 is a red fluorescent dye. It is used for cell imaging methods, and was shown to label astrocytes, myelinating oligodendrocytes. SR101 has been reported to affect excitability of neurons and should therefore be used with caution.
This product is a very useful building block for preparing red fluorescent biomolecules. Cadaverine allows conjugating the dye to proteins or soluble biomolecules containing carboxylic acid, aldehyde or ketone groups. We have also proven that Sulforhodamine 101 cadaverine is a good transglutaminase substrate.
