CT20p, a hydrophobic peptide derived from the C terminus of Bax protein, has been shown to translocate to the mitochondria promoting cell death. The unique cytotoxic actions of this peptide are different from the full-length Bax protein1. It has been applied in cancer-related treatment which perturbs mitochondrial morphology and movement ultimately culminating in disruption of the actin cytoskeleton, cell detachment, and loss of cell viability. CT20p peptide also has antimicrobial property to form pores in artificial lipid vesicles and release intravesicular contents 2-4.
